This half day course will support NQTS with planning, teaching and assessing in science, geography and history. Particular attention will be paid to planning, underpinning subject specific skills and their progression as well as exploring how the Bristol locale can meaningfully contextualise and enrich pupils' learning.

This half day course will support NQTS with planning, teaching and assessing in science, geography and history. Particular attention will be paid to planning, underpinning subject specific skills and their progression as well as exploring how the Bristol locale can meaningfully contextualise and enrich pupils' learning.

Outcomes

  • Ability to plan a historical, geographical and scientific unit of work using an enquiry based approach
  • An understanding of the need for progression in skills, Knowledge and conceptual understanding
  • Awareness of the requirements of the Ofsted framework and the implications of this for curriculum planning
  • Consideration of opportunities for SMSC and BV
  • An awareness and ability to ‘Bristolise’ geography/history topics by adding a local dimension
